Staying curious and open to change has allowed me to evolve as a project manager, making each project better than the last. I encourage anyone pursuing a career in project management to embrace a growth mindset, as it will serve you well when navigating the fast-paced, ever-changing landscape of project management.

What I love About Being a Project Manager - Header

I recently celebrated my 15th anniversary with CoStrategix. While I got my start as a developer and found my passion in quality assurance (QA), I was promoted to Project Coordinator five years ago. With a career in project management, I truly began to thrive, connecting with people and managing projects that contribute to business success.

Reflecting on my journey from the small town of Bhadravathi (in Karnataka, India) to managing complex projects at CoStrategix, I realize it’s been a path of constant learning and development. If you’re considering a career in project management, it’s essential to be a strong communicator, well-organized, and able to adapt to dynamic environments. If you find yourself driven and inspired by these qualities, project management could be a rewarding path for you too. Here are some of the things I love about my job:

Collaboration and Teamwork

In my previous role as a QA lead, I worked closely with cross-functional teams. This taught me the importance of communication and teamwork – skills that became invaluable when I stepped into a project management role. Managing projects is about more than just resolving issues; it’s about understanding the needs of various stakeholders, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring that the team is aligned with project goals. My people skills have helped me build support with both my teams and my clients, fostering a collaborative environment that drives success.

The Importance of Being Proactive

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that it’s not enough to simply resolve issues as they arise. Anticipating potential problems, performing regular system health checks, and maintaining open lines of communication with stakeholders are essential to minimizing incidents. My approach has always focused on preventive measures, ensuring smoother operations and greater customer satisfaction.

The Challenge of Thinking on Your Feet

Our client projects are fast-paced and the environments may be unpredictable, but our goal is to keep systems running smoothly and minimize downtime. For me, this aspect of problem-solving is exhilarating. Whether it’s resolving an urgent system issue or enhancing the efficiency of a process, our projects require an eye for detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to think on your feet.

Domain Versatility

As a services company, Costrategix gives me the opportunity to work with clients across multiple domains. This variety of experience has been crucial to furthering my career trajectory. Though each industry presents unique challenges, the core principles of managing customer expectations and delivering value remain the same. My domain versatility has allowed me to adapt quickly and provide tailored solutions to diverse clients.

Continuous Learning

I’ve always believed in continuous learning. Along my journey, I pursued certifications like CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) and CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner). These credentials have not only sharpened my skills but also enhanced my understanding of agile practices in project management.

Moreover, technology has advanced rapidly since I began my career. Adapting to these changes has been vital. From the growing importance of cloud computing to the rise of automation, staying up-to-date with the latest trends has allowed me to remain efficient and relevant.

My learning journey is far from over. My current aspiration is to earn a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, as it aligns with my passion for structured project delivery and will equip me to handle larger and more complex projects in the future. My passion for project management continues to grow, and I am excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead.

I have found both stimulation and satisfaction from my career in project management. With a focus on continuous improvement and an eye toward future achievements, I look forward to future challenges.
